Adularescence is a 14 karat Yellow Gold Art Deco Moonstone Necklace. The top of this Necklace has an open link circular chain section that is 4 1/2″ on each side. This Necklace features six round prong set Moonstones atop a bezel style base. The two Moonstones at the top of the chain are 9 mm, the next two are 11.5 mm. Dangling down the middle is a 12 mm Moonstone and then a 13.5 mm Moonstone. Each Moonstone is separated by a chain link that looks like fancy scrolls with a tiny dot flower in the middle. The total carat weight of the six Moonstones is five carats. This Necklace is almost 16″ in length. Circa 1930’s.
In Eastern cultures, “lighted” gems, such as moonstone, indicated good luck. The ever-changing, white reflections on its surface, which gemologists call adularescence, seemed to suggest a powerful, good spirit dwelled within.
